2. A few rooms are still available at the Beira Rio Hotel, the IBAC venue, at the special package price. Make your reservations soon (see details below).

3. Check out the excursions being offered and reserve your place in order to enjoy these special activities organized for IBAC delegates.

4. Free van transport will be offered at the Belém Airport for all IBAC participants. Please inform the Organizing Committee of your flight number and time of arrival.

5. Complete texts of contributed communications effectively presented during the XIX IBAC will be published integrally in a special volume of Annals. 6. Look at the Congress web page for information updates.

Oral and poster presentations

Computers with data-show projectors will be available for oral presentations, and authors are advised to bring their audio-visual materials on a CD-ROM. Other audio-visual support should be solicited before the Congress.

Poster size should not exceed 1 m (width) by 1.5 m (height). Posters sent in advance by e-mail can be printed by the IBAC Organizing Committee at nominal cost to the authors.

Registration fees

In order to facilitate the participation of a maximum number of interested professionals and students, the Organizing Committee has obtained financial support from various sources and has kept registration fees as low as possible.

Registration fee values are:
R$400,00 for professionals (approximately US$120.00 or €100,00 euros)
R$200,00 for students and Latin American professionals
R$100,00 for Latin American students

These values include access to all scientific activities of the Congress, opening cocktail and show, local transportation, and printed materials. For Latin American students, registration also includes access to one of the mini-courses (depending on available space).

Registration fees should be paid at the beginning of the Congress, in order to avoid extortionate bank transfer charges. Official money exchange will be available at the Congress venue on the opening day.

These values are valid only for those participants who send their pre-registration form in advance. Prices charged  at the Congress will suffer a 50% increase.

Venue information

As previously stated, the Congress venue will be the Hotel Beira Rio, a pleasant four-star resort hotel situated on the bank of the large Guamá River, located conveniently near the campus of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA). The Amazon forest begins on the other side of this river, and a daily river boat excursion is available. Historic downtown Belém is just downstream from the Hotel Beira Rio, and convenient transportation to the city's center is always available.

The Organizing Committee is pleased to announce the very economical package that has been made available for Congress delegates. We recommend that each participant make his reservation directly and as soon as possible, because the number of rooms is limited and reservations are made on a first come, first served basis. Look for details on the Congress web page or send an e-mail to dmfbel@terra.com.br.

Excursions

A mid-congress excursion is planned on the 13rd of  August, and will offer an opportunity to watch parrots at their roost, get to know some typical Amazonian trees, visit Belém's riverside and appreciate regional food. It is expected that this will be a moment for relaxing and get together. See details on the IBAC web page.

A special post-congress short expedition to a scientific research station in a preserved forest is offered. Places are limited and registration must be done directly with the IBAC Organizing Committee at ibacbrazil@uol.com.br or mluisa@ufpa.br. See details on page Excursion.

Other tour options can be organized on demand. Please get in touch with the IBAC official travel agency, Panfletur. Information can be obtained on the IBAC web site.

Number of Abstracts and the XIX IBAC

With 70 abstracts received from 20 countries, all carefully reviewed and edited by the Scientific Committee, this forthcoming meeting of the IBAC, the first to be sited in Latin America, will be the largest ever held, reflecting the recent and rapid growth of research on animal sound communication.

All these abstracts, as well as the detailed Congress programme, are available on the IBAC web page and will be distributed to the participants in printed form.

All effectively presented communications will be integrally published in a special volume of the Annals, if the authors so wish and submit their manuscripts by the close of the Congress.

See you in Belém at the XIX IBAC!
