How to reach Pavia

Pavia is a small town (about 100K citizens) located in North Italy, 30 km south of Milan. It is on the railway connecting Milano to Genova and very close to the highways connecting Milano to Genova (A7) and Torino to Piacenza (A21).

By plane

You can fly to one of Milan's three airports: Linate (50 km from Pavia), Malpensa (90 km from Pavia) or Orio al Serio (70 km from Pavia).

If you arrive to Linate airport, the cheapest and easiest way to reach Pavia is to take one of the six direct shuttle buses at 9,00 12,00 a.m - 2,00 3,30 5,00 8,30 p.m.- it takes 60 minutes. (download the timetable).
Look for MIGLIAVACCA buses platform (arrivals – exit no 7). You can buy the ticket on the bus.

Alternatively, you can take a bus to Milan's central railway station (Stazione Centrale) or a taxi, which is however an expensive choice. Both alternatives will take about 30 minutes. From Milan's central railway station, you can take a train to Pavia. The Milan-Pavia train ride takes 30-40 minutes (see: http://www. trenitalia.com)

If you arrive at Malpensa airport, you can take a train (Malpensa Express: http://www.malpensaexpress.it/ing/index.html) that leaves every 30 minutes to Cadorna station in Milan (duration: 40 minutes). Cadorna station in Milan is on the same underground line as the Milan central station (green line). From Milan's central station you can take a train to Pavia (http://www. trenitalia.com)

Another alternative is to take a Shuttle Bus (if there is one at your arrival time) to the Central Railway Station. Tickets can be bought in the Airport hall near the exits to the bus lines. This way you arrive directly at the railway station.
Taxis (an expensive option) are also available from Malpensa to Milan's central station.

If you arrive at Orio al Serio airport, you can take one of the 25 daily runs from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm direct to Milan's central station. From Milan's central station, you can take a train to Pavia. The Milan-Pavia train ride takes 30-40 minutes. (http://www. trenitalia.com).

By train

Most European cities are connected to Milan's central station by direct trains. You can take a train from Milan's central station directly to Pavia (direction to Genova). The train ride from Milan to Pavia takes about 30-40 minutes.

By car

You can take motorway A7 (pay toll), exiting at Bereguardo (Pavia North). You will find yourself on a free motorway that will take you straight to Pavia (10 km from Bereguardo). Follow the signs to Pavia centro / stazione and then for the University.
